Calculate rooftop solar credit distribution across apartment flats, common services, and RWA meters under Karnataka SERC & BESCOM SOP regulations.
Based on BESCOM/KERC All-ESCOM VNM/GNM SOP (SOP Ref: BESCOM/BC-51/2026-27/CYS-22)
| Consumer / Flat | Category | Load (kW) | Gross Import | Solar Credit | Net Billable Import | Export Credit (₹) | Net Payable (₹) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flat 101 (Block A) | DOMESTIC | 3 kW | 350 kWh | +360 kWh | 0 kWh | ₹35.03 | ₹0 |
| Flat 102 (Block A) | DOMESTIC | 3 kW | 400 kWh | +360 kWh | 40 kWh | ₹0 | ₹240 |
| Flat 201 (Block B) | DOMESTIC | 4 kW | 500 kWh | +480 kWh | 20 kWh | ₹0 | ₹120 |
Virtual Net Metering (VNM) and Group Net Metering (GNM) enable multi-tenant residential complexes, housing societies (RWAs), and institutional campuses to harness collective rooftop solar energy. Instead of installing individual solar PV panels on small separate roofs, a central rooftop solar array generates energy that is virtually apportioned to participating DISCOM meter accounts.
Solar generation is allocated across participating flat meters simultaneously according to pre-agreed percentage ratios (e.g. equal 10% share per flat or proportional to flat carpet area).
Solar generation is credited sequentially in a strict priority order. Typically, common services meters (water pumps, lifts, clubhouse lighting) receive 100% offset priority before remaining solar credits cascade to individual flats.
Under BESCOM/BC-51/2026-27/CYS-22, minimum solar plant size for VNM or GNM registration is 5.0 kW.
Total installed solar plant capacity cannot exceed the sum of sanctioned loads of participating connections.
Unconsumed surplus solar credits at financial year-end are compensated by DISCOM at 75% of the approved KERC Generic Solar Tariff.
Virtual Net Metering (VNM) allows a single rooftop solar PV plant installed on a housing society building to credit solar electricity across multiple individual beneficiary electricity meters (flats/apartments) based on declared allocation ratios, without installing separate physical solar connections for each flat.
Under VNM, generated solar power is distributed simultaneously across beneficiary meters according to pre-declared percentage shares. Under GNM, solar power is credited sequentially in a strict priority order (e.g. first offsetting common services pump/lighting, then surplus cascading to individual connection 1, connection 2, etc.).
Under KERC and BESCOM All-ESCOM SOP Guidelines (Ref: BESCOM/BC-51/2026-27/CYS-22), the minimum solar plant capacity for VNM or GNM is 5.0 kW, and the total plant capacity cannot exceed the combined sanctioned load of participating consumers.
Surplus unconsumed solar units remaining in beneficiary accounts at the end of the financial year settlement period are purchased by the DISCOM at 75% of the KERC Generic Solar Tariff rate.
Calculate capital payback period, annual bill savings, and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana subsidies.
Model peak/off-peak ToD slot shifts and single-connection solar net-metering credits.
Calculate monthly telescopic slab bills across all major Indian state utilities.
VNM and GNM allocation calculations strictly adhere to KERC All-ESCOM SOP Guidelines (BESCOM Order Ref: BESCOM/BC-51/2026-27/CYS-22 dated 12.05.2026). Retail energy tariffs are calculated using user-supplied parameters or verified SERC retail tariff orders.
