Delhi Electricity Tariff Rates & Subsidy Scheme Explained (2026)
Electricity distribution in Delhi is managed by three major private DISCOMs under the regulation of the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC): BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd (BRPL), BSES Yamuna Power Ltd (BYPL), and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (TPDDL).
1. DERC Domestic LT-I Tariff Slabs
For residential connections, DERC enforces a progressive 4-tier slab structure:
- 0 – 200 Units: ₹3.00 per kWh
- 201 – 400 Units: ₹4.50 per kWh
- 401 – 800 Units: ₹6.50 per kWh
- Above 800 Units: ₹7.00 per kWh
2. Fixed Charges & DISCOM PPAC Surcharges
Fixed charges are billed based on your connection's Sanctioned Load (kW):
- Up to 2 kW load: ₹20 / kW / month
- 2 kW to 5 kW load: ₹50 / kW / month
- Above 5 kW load: ₹100 / kW / month
In addition, DISCOM-specific PPAC surcharges apply to energy charges: 27.08% for BRPL, 31.60% for BYPL, and 29.13% for TPDDL.
3. Delhi Govt CM Electricity Subsidy Rules
Eligible opt-in residential consumers consuming up to 200 units per month pay ₹0 in energy charges. For consumption between 201 and 400 units, a 50% energy charge subsidy applies (capped at ₹800/month). Consumption above 400 units receives no subsidy.
